The aftermath of Hurricane Milton was miraculously mild considering its earlier wind speeds, which exceeded 180MPH. We were without power for four days and as of the 14th, it is still difficult to find fuel or get into a hardware store without tear gas, a taser and leprosy.
If Milton hadn’t, for wind shear or whatever reason, shat itself upon landfall, I sincerely suspect I and many others would be no more.
Doing what I do for work, I began receiving calls before Milton’s arrival for preparation, and immediately after for cleanup. One customer, then out of town, had a substantial amount of debris, serious tree damage and minor household damage. The upper portion of the main branch of a sizeable tree had broken, leaving a 5′ span of torn bark and the severed limb suspended by several precarious points and strands. For purposes of documentation, I recorded video as an assessment of the damage, then another video of my completed cleanup work.
I was still without power, but had a small generator with about a gallon of fuel remaining. I fired up my PC and edited the video.
Still logged in to both gmail and youtube, I proceeded to upload the edited footage. I initiated the upload process, gave the video a title, then clicked ‘Next’. Youtube wanted to verify it was “really” me trying to log in.
Typically, the process of verifying oneself involves entering a password. With or against the user’s will, additional authentication will sometimes be demanded — in the case of my google account, it has always been a one-time access-code sent via text message. On this occasion, the access-code via text was demanded and I complied as I have always done.
But it was a crisis of sorts, which ghouls prefer to not let go to waste. Precisely what I’ve done and what has worked for 15 years, suddenly didn’t. Naturally, I kept trying, 100% certain that I was doing nothing wrong. Then, I was simply banned.
Despite my efforts being solely for youtube, I am now banned from ‘my’ google account, which contains business, medical and other connections. And if it wasn’t already made clear, I did nothing that I’d not done a thousand times before.
So, if you are here from the former youtube channel, it has been expropriated by the ghouls of ghoulgle and I no longer have anything to do with it. No more videos. No more replies to comments. Nothing. It’s gone, all because I attempted to log in, when I was already logged in anyway.
Please remember this example and bear in mind the ‘nature’ of the corporations you are a product of. Most are not very nice. Some of them are flagrantly evil.
Thankfully I foresaw this well in advance and made efforts to migrate things of importance elsewhere, beyond ghoulgle’s reach. Perhaps you might consider making similar provisions. People who take advantage of others in a crisis, should at the very least, not be trusted. The other “shoulds” of this, I’ll leave to you.
So long, youtube, and the folks who visit it. So long, my former contacts of gmail. And good riddance to google.
Notes: As futile as it may be, I have made FCC and FTC complaints. If there are others who have experienced an account ban for absolutely no justifiable reason, consider contacting me for a possible class action suit against the Ghoul, or Google.
